Another Day In Iraq

And so it begins, another sunrise, another day in Iraq. The land of 1,000 lies. Where we tell each other things are getting better when really we have only gotten used to the smell of our own shit mixed with theirs. You can gift wrap it all you like, but it doesn't change what's inside.

Another day in Iraq, more suffering. Some things will always remain constant, the heat, the sand, the stars, and the sky. Yet, some things have been made worse. Another day in Iraq. For me, another day in a foreign land, for others it is another day at home.

I see cars stopped on the banks of the Tigris River. Are they setting up mortars? Perhaps they are only swimming. Here you lose your innocence, where they teach you to trust no one because anyone might be your enemy.

So you take their advice... You're still alive aren't you?

Another Day in Iraq, another day away from home, another day...

Hey Sarge,
You're sounded a little down today. Your deal sucks big time. With the stop-loss, do you have an ETS, or is it indefinite? Sorry if you've already answered this. Also, how much longer till your rotation? Wow, hard to keep up the spirits - wish I could say something, other than there are tons of people back home pulling for you. Be sure to post that address when you get it.

hi zach,

have you noticed how no one wants to post meaningful comments anymore on this blog? are you cia? or just sharing info with MI? on which side of the conscience fence do you fall?

hurria, snag and the rest of the regular contributors, i would like to continue to communicate with you thinkers amidst all this madness. but if Raed, among others, is closing down his blog, how to do so? i'm no net expert so look for me with my tomatoes and cauliflower plants. i would like to maintain contact with you all .....

these are just very minute themes in a very DIRTY political human world.

so, signing off, i send peace and safety to all, regardless of skin color, country of birth, or religious preference.

p.s. zach, you can politely inform your handlers that i, personally, will no longer be posting comments to this blog because of their ID requirement. i, like many other people on this planet Earth, do not trust your government and its representatives, which means you, mr zach.

keep yourself safe, zach. i hope you return to your wife and children ASAP.

plant a garden please http://www.permaculture.org.au/greening.htm.

maybe instead of the yellow ribbons and magnetic bumper stickers, you could ask your family to do the same.......................... http://www.permaculture.org.au/greening.htm

You are worthless as a soldier in the US military and a detrement to your fellow troops. Come home....no better yet take your family and go to a country more to your ideology like Cuba. I hear they have good medical coverage.

Zach,
This is my first time blogging,so forgive me if I'm not good at it. I think that what you are doing is a good thing; the blogging,I mean. I wrote a poem one night and I thought you might like it. I hope it makes you think of the love you have waiting for you at home and that no matter how hard times get there in iraq, the love of your family will save you.
Carry Me Away
Carry me away to a place I am safe. Safe from the fear of not being here, for you are my world. I can not bare the thought of us being apart. Carry me away in you loving arms.Draw me close to you with your southern charm. Your love will save me and make me brave and to fear,I won't be a slave.Carry me away with your sweet kiss and the strong, deep voice which flows from your lips. Carry me away to a place I am safe. That place is your heart.Promise that I'll have all not part.It is home to me, for in your heart, I am FREE.

Zach, I was in the middle east during operation Desert Storm. I really have to agree with what you said about the special forces teams and how they also don't have a positive view on the way things are going "Over There". Honestly, im sorry, If us soldiers from Desert Storm would have had permission to stay longer we could have finished the job for you, we could have saved your lives.

Dimwit #1 stayed out of Baghdad, for precisely the reasons we see now. Apparently Dimwit #2 did not inherit his dad's geopolitical abilities.

In case anybody's interested, just saw this review of what sounds like an interesting book: "Night Draws Near". It's an account by a Pulitzer prize winning Arab-American (?) journalist of the experiences and views of ordinary Iraqis (people like our friend Hurria) under the US/UK occupation. Sounds like it should be required reading for any Western supporter of the invasion, and especially for all our troops who are enforcing this grotesque and murderous process of corporate piracy.

Peace and safe home-coming to all in Iraq.

taff

P.S. Not sure if it will help our slightly paranoid eco-friendly gardener above, but isn't the "word verification" code for comments just a way of preventing bots from spamming the blog, rather than some CIA conspiracy (or did I miss your irony)? Anyway, do you really think that a government that couldn't even find Louisiana faster than the Canadians has a hope in hell of tracking you down in cyberspace?
